I received an SMS from Wilmie forwarding a message he received from Pengetua STM, Cikgu Abdul Razak, stating the following:-

"Tuan, pagi tadi berlangsung Majlis Perlantikan Pelajar yang telah disempurnakan oleh Dato' Halim Ali (Pengerusi LPS).
(Sir, this morning we held a Students' Selection Ceremony which was graced by Dato' Halim Ali (Chairman of LPS)

Dato merasa terkilan dengan pancaragam sekolah
kita. Sehubungan itu beliau telah melancarkan Tabung Pancaragam
Sekolah sebanyak RM20K.

MAHSOPA first career talk on Accountancy by Ms Bien on 7th. March 2008 has been postponed as Friday, March 7th. 2008, has been declared as a National School Holiday by the Education Ministry recently. This is inconjunction with the Malaysian General Elections which will be held on Saturday, 8th. March 2008.

Those students who are interested to hear about career talks are advised to visit our website for latest news and updates from time to time.

MAHSOPA has just posted our latest Life membership list on our website. To date, we have 285 members and the list is expected to grow as we hold our Friendly Soccer Match in Melaka on 12th. April 2008 and our Annual MAHSOPA Dinner on 19th. April 2008.

MAHSOPA has just started our MAHSOPA Life Membership campaign. All MAHSOPA committee members are being given a MAHSOPA Life Membership Registration Book so that we can register new Life membership.

CALLING ALL MHS ALUMNI MEMBERS TO MEET AND WITNESS MAHSOPA & HSOBA,MELAKA FRIENDLY SOCCER MATCH AT MALACCA HIGH SCHOOL FIELD ON SATURDAY, 12th. APRIL 2008, 4.30 PM.

Our first MAHSOPA and HSOBA, Melaka friendly soccer match is confirmed to be held at our Malacca High School field on Saturday, 12th. April 2008 from 4.30 pm onwards. MAHSOPA will be fielding our own soccer team under a FIFA coach, namely Mr. Kalimuthu who is also from MHS. HSOBA, Melaka will also field their own team to have this friendly.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has launched a biography on Tun Abdullah Salleh at University Kebangsaan of Malaysia.

Published by UKM, this 180 pages autobiography is being sold at RM 180.00 only. Tun Abdullah Salleh was the President of MAHSOPA from 1979 until 2006. He was not able to launch our MHS 180th. Anniversary Commomerative Book in December 2006 as he passed away in June 2006.

MAHSOPA CAREER TALK SERIES 2008 will kick off on Friday, 7th. March 2008 at Malacca High School Hall.

The first talk will be on ACCOUNTANCY and will be given by MHS Mahsopa Committee member, Ms.Bien Mei Nien who is currently running an accountancy consultancy business.

The lecture will start at 11.00 am(after the recess) and ends at around 12.00 pm because school will end at 12.00pm as it is a Friday. Pupils from the Form 4,5 and 6 students only are to attend the talk.

The MAHSOPA 2007/2008 Committee will like to wish fellow MAHSOPA members of Chinese heritage a VERY PROSPEROUS CHINESE NEW YEAR in the YEAR OF THE RAT. As we say good bye to the YEAR OF THE BOAR, we look forward to greater vigour in welcoming the YEAR OF THE RAT.

Many Reunion Dinners and lunches are being planned by various Classes of Malacca High School Alumni members, so we want to wish all of you well. Happy Reunion and to catchup with fellow classmates in and around the world.

To kick off the new year 2008, MAHSOPA intends to hold monthly talks on "Careers" at Melaka High School Hall, Jalan Chan Koon Cheng, Melaka from the month of February 2008 to October 2008. These lectures are opened to students who want to hear about the different fields of careers available.

The lectures will be given by experts in their own fields and it will also be a good forum to ask and enquire about potential employment/career opportunities to budding students.

As 2007 draws to a close in a few weeks' time, MAHSOPA 2007 Committee will like to take this opportunity to wish MHS Alumni members around the world and in Malaysia SELAMAT HARIRAYA ADIL ADHA, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008.

Hari Raya Adil Adha falls on 20th. December 2007, Christmas on 25th. December 2007 and the New Year starts on 1st. January 2008.

May the New Year brings Peace, Prosperity and Health to all.
