Teen thankful for new lease of life

MALACCA: Teenager Teng Cyun Shen, who survived a rare liver disorder, tells a story of gratitude — one that moved his schoolmates to tears.
It was a tale of caring schoolmates, teachers and alumni, and a stranger who went more than the extra mile to help the stricken teen.

MALACCA HIGH SCHOOL WALKABOUT ON SAT. 30.11.2013

A small group of former MHS pupils and 2 lower 6 MHS pupils who acted as our school guides took us around Malacca High School on Sat. 30.11.13. Paul Lim and wife came in from UK, Kwong (1958),Johnny Yong and Kang came from KL. Kwong has never been back since 1958. Many structures have been demolished due to building of new blocks.

Our Wisma Pengakap (1975-1998) is gone, basketball court is gone and most recently the HSOBA building (1964-2013) was acquired by the Education Ministry and reduced to dust. The school hall opened (1981- ) is in need of repairs.

MAHSOPA RAISES RM 3,600.00 DONATION TO PHILIPPINES TYPHOON DISASTER

MAHSOPA managed to raise a cash donation to the Philippines typhoon disaster fund after appealing to former MHS pupils during our dinner.

This was done spontaneously.

This compassionate gesture was a first to MAHSOPA in raising funds to an international relief appeal.

38 TABLES TAKEN

MAHSOPA 2013 DINNER was held on Friday night, 29th. November 2013.

Our dinner was sold out and more than 38 tables were taken up, making it our largest dinner in terms of attendence to date. At least more than 380 persons attended.

We managed to get the MHS percussion band to perform for us and MHS students to assist. It was a night of celebrations for all former pupils and teachers of Malacca High School.

35 TABLES SPONSORED AND SOLD TO DATE

With less than 2 weeks i.e. on 15th. November 2013 before we close our table/seat bookings, we have now reached 35 tables sold or sponsored by sponsored.

We are now targetting our maximum number of tables to 50 tables. We call on our fellow Malacca High pupils to give your fullest support to this dinner where we hope to celebrate Malacca High School 187th. Anniversary.

Your seat bookings or table bookings will assist us in achieving our target of maximum of 50 tables.

MAHSOPA DINNER AND EVENTS ANNOUNCEMENT PUBLISHED IN STAR METRO NOTICES

The Star newspaper has published our MAHSOPA Dinner, Golf game and School Walkabout in the Star Metro today. Contact names and email addresses are listed so that interested former Malacca High pupils can book their interest in these events.

The MAHSOPA Dinner 2013 is being held at Hotel Equatorial, Melaka on Friday night, 29th. November 2013. The School Walkabout is on Saturday moring between 10.00 am to noon and the Golf game is on Sat. morning.

30 TABLES FOR MAHSOPA BOOKED TO DATE

With about 1 month to go for our MAHSOPA DINNER 2013 at Hotel Equatorial,Melaka, we have received about 30 tables booking to date. We expect more tables to be booked as the date draws closer.

Former Malacca High pupils are coming in from various countries. Some are coming in from Australia, Singapore and Middle east for this event. Of course, former pupils from Melaka and Kuala Lumpur will also grace this dinner.

CAR POOLING and HOTEL ROOM SHARING For MAHSOPA DINNER 2013 IN MELAKA

With the forthcoming MAHSOPA DINNER 2013 being held in Melaka for the first time, former MHS pupils who want to attend this dinner on their own can travel to Melaka by car pooling.

Those who want to stay back and stay a night in Melaka for the school walkabout can share rooms.

Car pooling and sharing hotel rooms should be arranged individually for those who are interested to do.

Those in need of car pooling from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka or sharing hotel rooms in Malacca please contact Mr. Kong (017- 601 2322), our Car pooling and hotel room sharing co-ordinator.
