MAHSOPA TO GO GLOBAL

During our recent Annual General Meeting held on 20th. April 2013, the attendees were informed by the MAHSOPA committee that the Registration of Society has agreed to our amendments viz:-

Name change from Melaka High School Old Pupils Association, Federal territory and Selangor to Melaka High School Old Pupils Association only. Acronym remains as MAHSOPA. The association is opened to all former persons who have studied/taught in Malacca High School.

OLD PUPILS OF MALACCA HIGH - A MAHSOPA PUBLICATION

Dear mates,

As we are now in the process of editing the OLD PUPILS book to be published by December 2013, kindly submit names of old pupils whom you are in touch with, to admin@mahsopa.net to be included in the book as follows:-
Name,
last year in school and Form,
phone, and
email address.

This contact list will be included in the book. Also any interesting articles, photos,etc.

Past optimist issues to be loaned for digitalisation will be much appreciated.

MAHSOPA TO DIGITISE COPIES OF MALACCA HIGH "OPTIMIST"

MAHSOPA wants to archive and digitise ALL the copies of the Malacca High School Annual Magazine viz "The Optimist" into a CD.

"The Optimist" was first produced in early 1900's and over the years, it has become a record for the achievements and activities of the Malacca High School. Articles written by students were published in it as well.

PROPOSED MAHSOPA OLD PUPILS BOOK PUBLICATION

Subject of the Mahsopa Publication "OLD PUPILS"

The book shall be published by 7th December 2013 which coincides with the date of the school's founding on 7th December 1826 and gives us enough lead time.

The Book to be priced at RM50 for Mahsopa members and RM75 for non.members.

The Book will be 500 pages, 6"x9" hardbound.

The Book will include two CDS, namely a CD which includes all Optimist issues available and another CD of "Our Story - Malacca High School 1826-2006"

The content of the book is about old pupils, and includes articles by or about old pupils.

JOIN MAHSOPA LIFE MEMBERSHIP BY DONATION

3rd.March 2010

In order for MAHSOPA to recruit more life members from our current list of about 300 life members, former Malacca High School students and teachers can join MAHSOPA by donating a minimum fees of RM 30.00 only.(Life Membership fees of RM 25.00 only plus RM 5.00 processing fees)

Donations can be more than the nominal minimum sum if you wish to donate more.

For you to make such donations, you can download our MAHSOPA Life Membership Form, fill it up and send it to our MAHSOPA address with your donation in an Account Payee cheque payable to "MAHSOPA"

TUN ABDULLAH SALLEH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

TUN ABDULLAH SALLEH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

MAHSOPA is the custodian and Board of Trustees for the Tun Abdullah Salleh ScholarshipFund.The fund was set up by the Association on the 5th. day of July, 1978.

Previous to that date, the Association handed out examination fees under the Subsidy Scheme. Donations to the Fund are tax exempted vide Gazette Notification LN 1755/1979.

The first contributor was Datuk Tamby Chik bin Haji Hassan.

Over the years, a number of students have benefitted under the Subsidy Scheme.

The objectives of the Fund are :

Welcome to the homepage of Melaka High School Old Pupils' Association in Federal Territory and Selangor (MAHSOPA).

MAHSOPA was established in 1976 so that old pupils residing in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor can meet up with each other irrespective of their years in Malacca High School.

From time to time, MAHSOPA has volunteered her services in raising funds for their Alma Mater such as for examination fees for poor pupils of the School.

MR. CHAN YING TAT PASSED AWAY

Mr.Chan Ying Tat, former Principal of Malacca High School from 1972 to 1985 has passed away.

He studied in Malacca High and was the first former pupil to be appointed as her Principal.

During his tenure, Malacca High celebrated her 150th. Anniversary and built the school hall in 1984.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 and HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR

In a few days time, 2013 will end and we will usher in the New Year of 2014. We want to send our greetings to everyone for ushering 2014.

May 2014 bring us joy, happiness, health and peace to all Malaysians and our fellow humans around the world.

Also, by the end of January 2014, all Chinese around the world will usher in the Year of the Horse.

May the Horse gallops in prosperity, wealth and happiness for everyone.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 and QONG XI FA CAI in the YEAR OF THE HORSE.
